Directing

We travel to London, Hollywood, New York, and Chicago to get the very best actors and  performances for your project.

John Fornof made his directing debut in 2000 when his mentor and producer Paul McCusker, asked him to direct The Great Wishy Woz, the first Adventures in Odyssey musical. John remembers laughing all the way through the show as the actors ad-libbed lines and enjoyed the fun. He was hooked.

Since then, John has directed hundreds of actors, including numerous celebrities (although he truly considers each actor a celebrity). He loves collaborating with actors to make stories and characters come to life.

Producing

Since 1997, our Production Team has worked on 17 audio drama series, launched 10 original series, and won 20 Voice Arts Awards, including Outstanding Production, Outstanding Casting, and Outstanding Audio Engineering.

We bring your production to life with a world-class team of writers, directors, producers, actors, sound designers, and music composers.

Sound Design

Sound design is an art. And our Sound Designers are maestros who paint with sound.

Our Sound Designers make stories come alive in your imagination, adding custom and pre-recorded sounds, along with movie-quality foley (performing footsteps and other human sounds).

For a dilapidated mansion in the 1800s, they may add a far-distant church bell chiming. Next they add middle background sounds, such as a horse and carriage rumbling by outside. Then they add immediate background sounds, such as an old grandfather clock ticking in the hallway.

The result? Rich, layered soundtracks that make you feel like you’re actually “there.”

Custom Music

A great story takes you on a journey of the emotions. Our Music Composers are your expert tour guides. Their gift brings out the heartbeat of your story.

We’ve written, created, and produced for 17 separate audio drama series. We’ve launched 10 original series, including Lamplighter Theatre, The Extraordinary Adventures of G.A. Henty, Affabel: Window of Eternity, and Skyship Dreamer.

Started in 1987, this has become America’s favorite faith-based audio drama. It airs on over 6000 stations worldwide. John Avery Whittaker, known affectionately as Whit, runs an ice cream and discovery emporium known as Whit’s End, where all kinds of exciting adventures take place.

Based on the original video series created by Robert Vernon, this audio adventure stars Darryl Sabara from Spy Kids and June Lockhart (Lassie, Lost in Space). A team of young detectives solves mysteries from their base—a B-17 bomber parked by the Last Chance Diner.

This popular radio drama features the Morrison family as they navigate life’s trials and triumphs in the little town of Coleraine. But their adventures soon turn out to be anything but small-town. Produced by Keys for Kid Ministries.

Bio: John Fornof

When John was a kid, he clutched his Panasonic RQ-309S cassette tape machine close to his heart, and with his dad’s encouragement, started making his own radio adventures. His dream was to grow up to write and produce radio dramas.

Sadly, no one was doing radio dramas anymore. It was like, “Hey, when I grow up, I wanna be a telegraph operator!”

Fast forward the tape machine to 1997. John was invited to write for the Adventures in Odyssey radio show—literally, a dream job. Since then, John has worked as a writer, director, and producer on 17 different audio drama series. He helped launch ten of these series and has written over 225 episodes.

These shows have won numerous awards for excellence, including Seneca Awards, Voice Arts Awards, and several Audie Award nominations.

In 2009, he helped start Lamplighter Theatre with Mark Hamby. The popular radio drama quickly grew to over 1700 radio outlets in 29 countries.
Someone once called John “the Spielberg of audio drama”. He blushed. Then he put it in his bio.

John directed and produced A Quiet Revolution: The Story of John LeFlore—a civil rights documentary, and The Mighty A—a short film with the original crewmembers of the Battleship USS Alabama. Each documentary won an Emmy Award.

He wrote and helped develop the award-winning Ribbits! animated series with creator and former Disney producer Bob Garner, and served as story editor and consultant on animated videos for Adventures in Odyssey.

John is a graduate of the Act One Writing and Executive Program in Hollywood and has taught numerous screenwriting seminars at film festivals in San Antonio, Nashville, and New York.
